Be an ambassador for early voting by joining this special No Kings event on October 17. This is a fun, family friendly event with live music, games, jugglers. Costumes are encouraged to share your favorite Democracy super hero and join in the costumed conga line.

You may wonder why we are encouraging early voting so much. Early voting is the best way to protect your vote and make sure it counts. You can register online for a mail in ballot before October 14 at MyVote.wi.gov. Or you can vote early in person at your city clerk between October 20 and November 1. Check with your local clerk for their days and open hours.

Through this fun, we will be promoting early voting, voting with a friend and confirming your voter registration. Tools to share with others will include your voting rights and protection, talking points, the three amendments, the best online resource and a hotline for any voter disruption.

The rally is set for noon to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 17, on Democracy Corner in downtown Hayward. That’s the intersection of U.S. Highway 63 and Wisconsin State Highway 27. Note: Most of the construction clutter has been removed from the parking lot at the intersection, which will make it easier to hold a sidewalk rally.

This No Kings Event is not just a protest, its a day of non partisan voter participation. We’ll gather on Rib Mountain drive between Parrot and Starling lanes to rally in support of democracy and our right to participate in free and fair elections.

For more than a year, millions of people have come together to reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians who believe they are above the people and the law.

Now, we are taking the next step, turning people power into voter power. Unlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early, is not purely a protest. Instead, on October 17th, it's a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing our community together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard.

Because no one person gets to decide our leaders before voters do. On October 17th, join us in local events across the country as we get out the early vote and say it loud: no thrones, no crowns, no kings.

No Kings: Vote Early events are nonpartisan and are designed to increase participation from all eligible voters.

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

To take place at our normal spot, in front of the K-Mart parking lot off of State Rd and Losey Blvd. Participants will gather on the public sidewalk in front of K-Mart.

***We understand that we have previously had little issues with parking in the K-Mart Parking lot for our events, but we are encouraging everyone to park elsewhere or risk being towed by the lot owner.

We will be collecting donations for What I Need Now to help assist our unsheltered community members survive the upcoming winter. Items in need include blankets, mittens, gloves, warm socks, warmies, and winter coats of all sizes, with a special emphasis on size large. These items can be new or used!

Please consider getting involved with La Crosse Indivisible or other action oriented groups. The upcoming mid-terms are extremely important, and we need all hands on deck!
