Monona: Defends the Constitution and Democracy
https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/857754/
MONONA PROTESTS
Resistance is growing. Protests are growing. What we are seeing is not what this country is.
More and more people across the country are showing and telling the Trump regime that they don’t like what is happening to the country.
People don’t like that the Big Ugly Bill takes medical care and food from low-income people to fund tax breaks for the wealthiest among us.
They don’t like seeing families and communities violently ripped apart by anonymous ICE agents arresting and detaining US citizens and people with no criminal records.
They don’t like seeing protections for air and water being eliminated.
They don’t like seeing food for foreign aid withheld, withdrawn, and destroyed.
They don’t like that people appointed to positions of authority when their only qualification is loyalty to Trump.
People are tired of cruelty, and lies, and chaos. This is not the way to build a strong country.
We are tired of the attacks on the rule of law.
WE are tired and fed up with efforts to undermine and restrict freedom of speech, a keystone of our country's values.
People know that this is not what the United States is. Our laws, customs, values, and traditions are being ripped apart. We object.
When people see others protesting, it gives them courage to join. They know they are not alone.
We are continuing to protest in Monona, building solidarity and connections and strengthening our community. Joining others with whom you agree is energizing – you feel less alone.
4:00-5:00 pm at the corner of Nichols Road and Monona Drive. Bring signs, energy, friends, neighbors, and family. Forward this to others.

Stevens Point: Community Rally Part 15 - Dress Up For Democracy
https://www.facebook.com/events/2076166086520584
***This Sunday we're going to dress up and have some fun! Whether you want to wear your Halloween costume, cosplay outfit, Packers' jersey, prom dress, LARP or anything else- you'll fit right in. We're determined to keep some fun in the fight, and let's be honest- this time of year, a few more layers of clothes isn't a bad thing! Costumes are NOT required, of course, so feel free to come as you are- we have people in pajamas as often as we do those in church clothes. We'll have some extra treats and goodies to make it a party, too! ***
Join us at Veteran's Park for a community gathering to meet your neighbors, join some conversations, and maybe even wave some signs! If you care about democracy and our constitution and are looking for ways to fight despair, you're invited to join us. We aren't affiliated with any political party, group, or organization; we're community members who've been working together since summer 2024 to build systems of support, share resources, and teach each other how to fight tyranny- here and around the world.
These events are becoming a "hub" for people to share their organizations and passions, and we want to hear about yours! It's VERY casual- you don't need to do a presentation or anything- just show up and talk to people about your work and passions. Check out our FB page for more info and message us if you'd like to know more. All are welcome.
Event is rain or shine; if there's severe weather, we'll update this space. We'll have sidewalk chalk, sign supplies, plenty of extra signs, and lots of info and ideas. We have candy, snacks, and water to share. The park also hosts historical displays, a playground and gazebo, native plant gardens, a few benches, and more. Sometimes we even have outdoor video games and Pickles the Clown! There's something for everyone, of every age, is what we're saying...
Please be respectful of surrounding businesses and private property. There's plenty of street parking and a public lot; we encourage walking, biking, and carpooling to minimize the environmental impact of this event.
Spread the word and join us! We're doing this every Sunday and will keep showing up as long as you do. We're all in this together.
