West Milwaukee: SE WI Indivisible Weekly Sundays

https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/897118/

Community coming out because they are exhausted by the chaos rather than sitting at home angry that our democracy, inalienable rights and justice for all are being eroded. Action is the antidote to anxiety.

Meeting in front of the Target sign on Sundays. Parking is readily available. We spread out along Miller Parkway and display our pro-democracy signs and encourage joiners. Raising awareness and gaining more to the movement is our goal. We would like to have themed messaging and try to announce that to the people who sign up. The themes are determined by what chaos is happening that week.

A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. No weapons of any kind are allowed.

It's always good to smile and wave :) Come with or without a sign. We will have extras. We like to get a photo together at the end and we do post online. We also will have pickers to pick up trash in the area for those who are so inclined. Looking forward to meeting you!

Time: 2:00pm-3:30pm

For those who would like to meet more people, we go to a local restaurant after our event. Talk to us after for details.

Milwaukee: ICE Facility | Communities Not Cages - National Day of Action

https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/941649/

Join us outside as part of a nationwide day of action to oppose the Trump administration's expansion of ICE detention ability and its attack on the due process rights of immigrants and all Americans.

In Milwaukee, ICE is expanding to a facility on 11952 W Lake Park Drive, and they're keeping it hush-hush. The new facility is expected to have mass detention capability, a prime area for ICE's ability to ramp up operations in Milwaukee and across Wisconsin using 287(g) agreements.

This action is organized by the ActWisconsin Statewide Coalition and its various members, including Indivisible chapters and immigrant rights groups. Learn more about us at ActWis.co.

We're taking to the streets to make clear that Wisconsin stands for dignity, justice, and the rule of law - and to show full force in Wisconsin's fight against the Department of Homeland Security.

We'll gather to:

  • Show visible, public opposition to ICE detention expansion and the criminalization of immigration

  • Stand in solidarity with detained immigrants and the communities fighting to protect them

  • Demand that our elected officials defend due process for everyone

Bring a sign. Bring your neighbors. Bring your voice.

This action is part of the Communities Not Cages National Day of Action organized by the Disappeared In America campaign and partners including Detention Watch Network, Indivisible, Public Citizen, The Workers Circle, MoveOn and many others.

A core principle behind all Disappeared In America events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
