Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Why are you changing your name from 50501 WI to Wisconsin Resist?

This is more than a name! We are becoming something new - an independent entity built around Wisconsin communities. Wisconsin Resist speaks more directly to who we are and what we do, organizing, building mutual aid networks, and resisting oppression in all its forms.

2. What does this change mean?

We are stepping forward from the national 50501 identity to stand as Wisconsin Resist. While our roots remain in grassroots organizing, mutual aid, and direct action, this evolution gives us a stronger identity of our own, sharpening our focus and amplifying our impact here in Wisconsin.

3. Does this change the work you do?

Nope! Our organizing, mutual aid, and direct action remain at the heart of everything. The shift makes our mission clearer and our commitment even stronger.

4. Are the same people involved?

Yes. The same organizers, volunteers, and community you trust are behind Wisconsin Resist. We’re simply moving forward with a stronger name and a more independent identity.

5. Will you still be associated with 50501 in any way?

We’re no longer part of the national 50501 identity, and we won’t be following their direction. That said, we’ll continue to work with them, just like we do with other aligned groups when it makes sense. Wisconsin Resist is now its own entity, focused on the needs and power of communities here in Wisconsin. Stay tuned: we’ll soon be putting out a call for volunteers to help shape what comes next.
