Tuesday, January 6th marks the fifth anniversary of the violent attack on our nation’s Capitol, where over 140 police officers were assaulted and injured while safeguarding the peaceful transfer of power. We are holding two* separate events to serve as a reminder of how fragile our democracy is, especially in the face of unprecedented corruption, and to honor the officers who have sworn to uphold our constitutional rights.
Event 1: Overpass Protest on Pioneer Rd. Bridge over I-43 (border of Cedarburg/Mequon)
Time: 3:30pm-4:30pm
Join us for this visibility event to hold signs and flags on both sides of the Pioneer Rd /Hwy C bridge in Cedarburg over I-43. We will have large signs and some single letter boards strung together, we just need helping hands to hold them (and we encourage large American flags if you have them)! Please park in the Park n’ Ride lot to the east of the bridge. We have a volunteer that will transport anyone that would prefer a ride from the lot to the bridge, so no walking in slippery areas required!
Please dress for the weather! While the forecast is showing no signs of precipitation and milder temps, the wind on the bridge always surprises people. Be sure to have a warm coat, gloves/mittens, warm pants and appropriate footwear. You will need the extra layers!
