WE ARE COMMUNITY.
On March 28th, we’re gathering to say we have no Kings. We’re gathering to find our own strength within our own community, and to appreciate the stories and the lives within it - to remember that the ultimate strength comes from within us, not some wannabe dictator.
Monroe Courthouse Square (South Side)
3:00–5:00 PM
Program at 3:00, Community Gathering at 4:00
THIS WON’T BE A TRADITIONAL PROTEST. Instead, it’s a day to gather community, share our emotions, and rally for a greater good. We’ll have a speaker on each issue, we’ll march, we’ll sing, and we will even dance. It will take each other to climb out of this dark place as a nation.
This event will follow four themes:
Immigration & Our Neighbors
The Trump Regime is using ICE as a weapon against our fellow brothers and sisters in this country. We must remember and appreciate each neighbor for who they are and work to keep each other safe - regardless of documentation.
Remembering Those Affected
Policy isn’t just something you see on the news, it has a human cost. We’ve been reminded of this all too often in recent times. Let’s take time for ourselves to make space for those lives lost. Say their names. Minneapolis is the blueprint, and the nation must answer.
Elections: Why They Matter, and Why They’re Safe
Despite all that is happening, our greatest power remains in our vote - both locally and nationally. When under threat, it’s important to know that our elections remain safe and secure. It’s important to know that there is power in both running for office and voting, and we must support and encourage others in doing so. Democracy is only as strong as its participation, and it is not a spectator sport.
Community & Solidarity
We’re neighbors. We’re workers. We’re sisters and brothers. Together, we must remember that the power still resides within us and our resistance. Our resistance to this regime and the strength in our communities across the country is the key to keeping each other safe. It’s the key to keeping the United States of America. It’s easy to feel powerless, but we are powerful together.
After the program, we’ll stay to connect and converse. Make friends with a stranger! For the hour afterwards, local groups will have tables set up across the lawn for you to get involved in whatever capacity you are willing. We hope for nice weather, but this is rain or shine! It’s March in Wisconsin, after all!
March 28. 3 PM. South Side of the Square.
This is what democracy looks like!
