Community organizations, faith leaders, immigrant rights advocates, labor partners and residents will gather on Sunday July 12th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Clarke Square Park in Milwaukee for a community vigil honoring Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a Mexican national fatally shot by ICE while driving a construction crew to work in Houston, Texas, on 7/8/26. Organized by Comite Sin Fronteras and additional community partners, the vigil will provide a space to remember Lorenzo and stand in solidarity with immigrant families and those killed at the hands of ICE throughout the United States.
The gathering will include remarks from community leaders, moments of reflection and opportunities for attendees to honor Lorenzo’s life, while calling for dignity, compassion, and justice for all members of our community. Community members are encouraged to bring candles, flowers, and messages of remembrance. The event is peaceful, family-friendly and open to the public. March to follow.
