On March 22, 2024, Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire closed forever. Declining Medicaid coverage was a key reason for that loss. That left Mayo Hospital with the overwhelming responsibility for the emergency medicine and healthcare of a huge part Wisconsin.

Under enormous pressure by sheer numbers and area, Mayo has risen to the challenge and is brilliantly serving the community. But now, the Senate has made the horrible Reconciliation Bill EVEN WORSE with draconian cuts that will severely harm our few remaining hospitals.
