JOIN IN A SILENT, PEACEFUL PROTEST IN SUPPORT OF THE FIRST AMENDMENT!
WHERE: Outside of the building that houses the office of Congressman Tom Tiffany, 2620 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, Wisconsin
WHEN: Monday May 19, 2025 4:30 PM TO 6:00 PM
WHO: All concerned with preserving First Amendment rights who agree to be peaceful are welcome. Special invitation to people in faith communities, students, educators and anyone concerned with recent attacks on the First Amendment. This is a grassroots effort started by people in central Wisconsin. There will be no screening for party or any other affiliation.
IMPORTANT • Arrive at 4:15 if possible. But join us any time your schedule allows! • This is a silent, peaceful protest focused on First Amendment rights. There should be no shouting, taunting or personal attacks, verbally or on signs. Protesters may speak with one another of course! • Each person is encouraged to wear a scarf over their mouth (unless you are opposed or unable because of a medical condition). This visual is intended to symbolize an environment in which speech and the freedom to assemble is no longer free. • Signs – We suggest preparing a simple sign with a word(s)banned or restricted by the current administration in the past several weeks as published by the New York Times, https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/03/07/us/trump-federal-agencies-websites-words-dei.html. A sign is not required to be part of this protest.
